Okay, after much procrastination, I've finally begun P90X. I've had the set for a couple of weeks now, but I kept coming up with excuses, like I didn't have dumbbells, a mat, push up bars, etc. Well I decided to go ahead and do it! I did the Chest and Back workout on Disc 1. Let me just say, now I know where the "X" in P90X comes from. This workout is extreme! It's basically a pushup and pullup routine. Sounds simple, huh? But this workout will push you to your limits. At least, it did for me.
First let me give you some background. My name is Kerry Hill. I am 33 years old and I currently weigh 260 pounds. I'm 6 foot 1 and I would like to get down to 215 pounds and rid my body of some of this fat. For a person of my size, let me tell you, this workout is pretty rough. But I was able to maintain and keep up for the most part. On the pushups, I did all I can until I couldn't do anymore, then I put my knees down to finish up. As far as pullups, I can do a few right now, but I used bands.
Halfway through the workout, I started getting really light headed and sick to my stomach. But I didn't quit. I kept on until the end. Then I had to do Ab Ripper X. Now, Ab Ripper X is only 16 minutes long. But I will have to admit, I couldn't really put my all into it. I basically tried each exercise, but could only manage a few reps on each. That's something that I'm gonna really have to improve on, because I know that I need to feel that burn in order for the exercises to make a difference. I will keep everyone posted. I'm looking forward to Plyometrics tomorrow afternoon! Check out the below "Before" picture to see what I'm starting with.
